Al Forno Restaurant

Tucked away in the heart of Kingston upon Thames on Townsend Parade, Al Forno is a family-run restaurant serving authentic Italian fare, made using recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. This is a place where Italian hospitality shines through, whether you're stopping by for a leisurely lunch or settling in for a relaxed evening meal. Situated just a stone's throw from the Old Market Square and the Rose Theatre, with views across the River Thames, Al Forno is a lovely place to relax, unwind and enjoy good, wholesome Italian cooking.

The atmosphere here is warm and unmistakably convivial. Al Forno has the feel of a trattoria, thanks to the lively buzz created by happy diners, the simple decor and the ample outdoor seating. It's an easy, welcoming spot that suits all sorts of occasions, from casual catch-ups with friends to gatherings with family, and the friendly team are always on hand to make you feel at home.

At the centre of it all is the food. The pizzas at Al Forno have gained acclaim, with topping combinations including prosciutto and mushrooms, tomato and chorizo, and spinach with garlic, Parmesan and an egg. Beyond the wood-fired pizzas you'll find a generous choice of pasta and seafood dishes, with favourites such as red Sicilian prawns atop homemade tagliolini, and scallops gratinati. To start, the likes of meatballs in garlic sauce and fresh bruschetta prove the perfect way to whet your appetite.

Round things off with something sweet, as traditional Italian desserts such as tiramisu and hazelnut semifreddo mean your visit to this charming restaurant will end on a sweet note. Paired with a glass from the wine list or a proper Italian espresso, it's the kind of unhurried, genuine dining experience that keeps guests coming back. Booking ahead is recommended to secure your table.
